Why Natural Deodorant?

It seems one of the hardest clean beauty products to find is deodorant. There are so many to pick from now compared to when I first started searching around 2009. It's tricky because regular deodorant has aluminium in it to prevent you from sweating. Aluminum is really great at doing that, so that's why it's so heavily used. I'm sure with the new demand of natural beauty products, a synthetic chemical will be made to replace aluminum, so the product can be labeled "aluminum free", but really still be just as toxic.

The bad thing is, we NEED to sweat, it's an important part of our detox system. So, using a deodorant to prevent that will always be harmful IMO.

So why is aluminum bad? Well, it's a heavy metal, a known neuro-toxin. We encounter aluminum every day through foods, drinks, vaccinations, medicines, etc., so depending on how great your body is at detoxing, we all have some level of aluminum in our body to begin with. What is worry some about deodorant with aluminium, is that our armpits have glands and there are concerns with breast cancer, among many other diseases, like Alzheimers.

I'm not trying to fear monger here. I think we can all agree that most things probably cause cancer. Life is all about moderation, and making conscious decisions regarding your heath. To me, deodorant is something that I use daily, and it's an easy switch to make. For me, the less toxins I'm intentionally putting on my body the better.

If you haven't good luck with natural deodorants in the past, you may have experienced a detox period that can last a few weeks. There are charcoal detox masks to help draw the toxins out more quickly, or you can just wait it out. You may have to try a few until you find one that works for you.

This one by Pantry Products has been my favorite so far. I love the smell, and it goes on very smooth, unlike many others that are hard.

Have you found one that you like? What are you using? If you're still searching, I have a few of these left at the salon. You can order online here.
